History-Making Ballet Star Misty Copeland Makes Triumphant Broadway Debut! See the Jubilant Shots of by Matthew Blank

Misty Copeland, the ballerina who was promoted in June to principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre — the first African-American actress to make that leap — made more history Aug. 25 when she joined the Broadway cast of On the Town, stepping into the role of aspiring ballet dancer Ivy Smith, the show's elusive Miss Turnstiles.
