Some of the best theatre, in London as in New York, happens in the smallest spaces, like the Donmar Warehouse, Almeida, Young Vic, Southwark Playhouse and Finborough Theatres — not all of them with conventional proscenium arch lay-outs, and often reconfigured on a show-by-show basis.
