In Karen Zacarias' adaptation of Helen Thorpe's nonfiction tome about immigration, "Just Like Us: The True Story of Four Mexican Girls Coming of Age in America," the incursion of the journalist into the lives of four young friends soon to graduate from a Denver high school could have been an elephant-in-the-room proposition, were it not for the playwright's wit.
