Cockpit Theatre, London: There may, in the words of one of its songs, be no day but today, but there's no show about yesterday quite like Rent. It's a little time capsule of New York City life in the throes of the Aids crisis, written and first premiered in the early to mid-90s, that's at once both now a period piece and timeless too.
