I read Richard Anthony Baker's obituary of Simon Ward (August 9, page 35) with great interest. In 1984, along with other amateur performers in York, I was fortunate to appear alongside Ward - who played Jesus - in a production of the Mystery Plays in the city's magnificent Museum Gardens. Coincidentally, this summer, after a long absence, the Mystery Plays are being revived at the same venue.
