Two episodes in, and Line of Duty is shaping up rather nicely, if you like your crime thrillers reeking of corruption, filmed through a fog of moral ambivalence and generously sprinkled with bloodshed, mutilation and murder. Imagine a modern police procedural informed by the sensibilities of Jacobean revenge tragedy, and you'll have some idea of what writer/producer Jed Mercurio's five-part BBC drama series is like.
