BBC costume designer Michael James Burdle died, aged 69, on February 9 after a period of ill-health. Born on March 30, 1942, Michael, in 1985, won a BAFTA for Bleak House. He designed costumes for a wide range of TV shows including Dad's Army, Doctor Who and Don't Wait Up. He also designed for many period dramas which remained his great passion.
